Khunna fabric also known as Guledgudda Khana (Khan) has its origin in Karnataka. Khunna fabric was initially used to make cholis or blouses to match different Ilkal sarees and farmed a niche clothing habit of suburban women of Karnataka. Khana or Khun/khan is a fabric hand woven using the finest cotton thread and silk yarns by traditional weavers of Guledgud and surrounding villages and now in some parts of Maharashtra.

As time passes the Khun weave gained popularity to is worn by women in various forms like ready-to-wear dresses, Sarees, Lehanga Cholis for Kids, Blouses, and Jewelry made of Khun fabric. It carries a distinct weave with a pattern like brocade, almost similar to honeycomb-shaped. Nowadays you will get different types of embroidery on Khan Fabric it looks elegant. Artisans use their skills like magic to weave the threads to make these master cloth pieces. The Khun Fabric carries two color tones intersecting with each other to form this artistic spectacle.

The khan fabric is very soft and easy to wear that’s why young generations also love to wear as traditional as well as fashionable. The artisans have successfully introduced new designs and colors while retaining their original form to cater to the challenging textile market. Today this fabric with a Traditional look is considered fashionable not only in Karnataka but also in the other parts of India.
